The Education Fund teams up with Whole Foods in Aventura, 21105 Biscayne Blvd., on Thursday, Aug. 11 to raise money for the 2011 Teach-A-Thon. Watch a video about the event now.
As part of Whole Foods Community Giving Day, the Aventura store will donate five percent of its net sales from that day to the Teach-A-Thon, which recruits business professionals to teach a class and educates them about the invaluable role teachers plan in the lives of Miami-Dade Public School children.
The Education Fund has enlisted flautist, composer and Latin Grammy Award winner Nestor Torres, who will serve as a celebrity bagger at 7 p.m.. Local teachers and Miami-Dade School Board Member Martin Karp will also bag groceries during the daylong fundraiser.
