You can also call 305-995-1000 and ask to speak to your school board member.

STATE ISSUES

The State of Florida Legislature decides some of the most important issues relating to public education including funding issues.

The majority of regulations, the formulas for funding public education, and a large part of funding for schools are all decided by The State of Florida Legislature. The legislators also decide issues such as what our schools throughout the State must teach, how the class size amendment is implemented and a variety of items that directly affect our students' education.

FEDERAL ISSUES

Most education issues are the states or local school districts to decide. However, in recent years, U.S. Congress has taken a larger role in regulating public education. Although the issues US Congress decides are limited, they are important issues relating to public education. The issues decided affect every school in the U.S. They include economic stimulus funds for public education, the rules related to the "No Child Left Behind" legislation, additional funding schools receive to assist students with disabilities and to assist low low-income students.
