Citi Success Fund OverviewThe Citi Success Fund, with a 20-year track record of success, is dedicated to serving the urgent and growing needs of at-risk students in our community by motivating them to stay in school through teacher-directed project-based learning. We've reached 168,000 at-risk students with more than 900 stimulating learning experiences in elementary, middle, senior high and alternative/specialized schools throughout the county. Citi has invested nearly $3/4 million in grants to Miami-Dade County Public School teachers. This award-winning program was first launched in Miami-Dade County in 1987 and, since that time Citi Foundation has spread it to various cities around the world.
To apply for the Citi Success Fund Grant, teachers must provide the following information, using either the online or printed application:
1. The Purpose/Goals of the Program,
2. A Narrative Description of the Program,
3. A Schedule of Significant Events (projected timeline)
4. A Program Evaluation, and
5. A Detailed Budget.
In June, The Education Fund pre-screens all applications, checking for completeness and adherence to the guidelines. The second stage of the screening process is a community grant reading, sponsored by Citi. Business and civic leaders throughout Miami-Dade County are invited to participate in the event as volunteer judges. The volunteer judges are divided into teams of four or five individuals and include a local educator/technical advisor. All team members rate each grant following the criteria given. These scores are then discussed and compiled for a final team rating. Following the grant reading, an Ed Fund staff member averages and tabulates the scores and ranks the applications. Based on the scores, a funding recommendation is submitted to The Education Fund's board of directors for certification.
Citi Success Fund grant recipients are recognized by their peers and the business community at a Citi-sponsored awards reception held in their honor in the fall. At the reception, the grant winning teachers receive their grant checks along with forms to document the results of their proposals. At the conclusion of their projects, recipients submit their reports and financial data to The Education Fund.
