Programs

Additional funding is available for projects that specifically address these areas:

  • Literary: programs that motivate students to be lifelong readers and build in students a love of literature.
  • College/ postsecondary access for at-risk students: programs that help to create a "college-going" culture at your school; projects that include career awareness, vocational training, and/or workshops that inform parents of process and opportunities in post-secondary education (senior high only).

  • Engineering: hands-on projects that incorporate the science, mathematics and/or technology engineers use. Also projects that entice women and minorities to explore engineering fields.

  • Water Conservation: protecting the water supply, reducing water pollution, and/or conserving water
  • Recycling & Solid Waste Management: study of solid waste management and/or innovative reuse of goods or garbage.
  • Holocaust: projects that follow established guidelines in teaching the Holocaust.
(note: Teacher Mini Grants addressing the Holocaust will be awarded only to applicants trained at U of Miami / M-DCPS Holocaust Summer Institute. If you are not trained, you're still eligible to apply for an IMPACT II Adapter Grant for a Holocaust project - due November 3rd.)

Please remember we are interested in projects in all K-12 curriculum areas, so if your project idea does not fit into one of these special categories, we are still interested in receiving your proposal!
